Peebles High School Fund Raiser

SONY DSCPeebles High School pupils were delighted to raise funds for the Alec Lucas Memorial Trust at their recent Enterprise Fair. Close to many people’s hearts, the Trust was nominated by the S1 and S6 pupils who took part in the event.

Thanks to the agreement and involvement of both teachers and the Rector, Campbell Wilson, the children organised a “Splat the Teacher” event where pupils paid to soak them by throwing a wet sponge. Much to the delight of many pupils, they had perfect aim! This proved to be a very popular stall, raising £90 for the Alec Lucas Memorial Trust.

Alec’s father, Adrian, came to the school to be presented with the cheque and said

It was lovely to hear what these wonderful kids wanted to do with the money they had raised. Getting the change to get their own back on their teachers would have been just what Alec would have loved. What good sports the teachers are too!
It means so much to Alec’s mum Sue, brother Richard and me that Alec’s memory lives on especially in younger generations. The money raised will go directly to our local sports and our brave Royal Marines. We have no overheads as a local charity so every penny makes a difference, thank you all so much.
