The Alec Lucas Memorial Football Trophy was won by the Borders Lions after an exhausting final with the 45 Commando Unit from Arbroath. The trophies and medals were presented by Alec’s daughter, Cara.
Alec’s father, Adrian said “The football tournament was yet again played in the right spirit with lots of excellent matches. The 45 Commando did well to reach the final, but the select team were too strong. There was a huge crowd around the park for the final.”

The total raised on the day has not yet been finalised, but will be in excess of £10,000, taking the eight year tally to over £125,000 which is shared between local football clubs and military charities. This year is the last family fun day, reception and auction, an occasion that was fittingly marked by a Red Arrows fly past.
